Jets' Chances Of Signing JaMarcus At 10 Percent

Jets Inquire On JaMarcus Russell

Jets Players Prefer Clemens To Brunell
The Jets are expected to sign veteran quarterback Mark Brunell, but the New York Daily News reports that the team's players aren't thrilled.
A poll by the Daily News revealed that a majority of Jets' players prefer Kellen Clemens to Brunell as the team's No. 2 quarterback behind Mark Sanchez.
"Brunell? Isn't he like 50 years old?" said one player of the three-time Pro Bowl, who will turn 40 in September.
Bradford Believes He'll Sign With Rams By Camp
Rams quarterback Sam Bradford, who was the first overall pick in April's NFL Draft, fully expects to be under contract in time to open training camp in late July.
"At this point right now (agent Tom Condon) hasn't given me any indication that there's going to be any problems getting a contract done," Bradford said Tuesday. "I expect to be in camp, on time."
Bradford should expect to receive a contract in excess of the six-year, $78 million deal that Matthew Stafford signed with the Lions in 2009.

The Jets have checked on the status of free agent quarterback JaMarcus Russell, according to sources.

Bears Aren't Interested In Shawn Springs
Bears coach Lovie Smith has a connection to free-agent defensive back Shawn Springs, but the team isn't interested in signing him.
"We had Shawn Springs when Terry Glenn came on the scene then," said Smith, who coached him at Ohio State. "Eddie George of course was the running back. Ricky Dudley was the tight end. Shawn was in that group, too."
Springs is unlikely to come play for the veteran minimum and the Bears are believed to be pretty much maxed out on their budget for 2010.
"We like what we have right now," Smith said of his depth chart at cornerback. "Shawn will always be family to me, but right now we like where we are. We constantly try to improve our ballclub right up until the first game. Josh Moore has made a lot of progress. Tim Jennings coming in, we like some of the new additions we have."

Bulger's Deal May Drive Up Brunell's Price
The Ravens gave Marc Bulger $3.8 million to be Joe Flacco's backup, which may drive up the market price of other veteran quarterbacks.
Mark Brunell has been linked to the Jets and Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com believes that Bulger's deal could increase how much Brunell will eventually sign for.
"Many figured Brunell would sign for the minimum ($860,000 for a player with his experience), but now you have to wonder," Cimini writes.
